  • Turn off or have electricity disconnected before entering a room with standing water.
  • Don’t enter a room with standing water if you can’t see where you are stepping.
  • Don’t attempt to use a regular household vacuum to remove water.
  • Don’t attempt to remove wall-to-wall carpeting or padding.
  • Don’t turn on electrical appliances or fans that have been in contact with water or while on wet flooring.
  • Don’t spray anything on or attempt to clean-up mold.
  • Be careful of slip hazards when transitioning from wet to dry flooring.
  • Mop or soak up as much standing water as possible.
